Agility in research
Agile development is about continuous improvement, and there's no reason the same thinking shouldn't be applied to research. We are firm believers in research techniques that move swiftly ahead of and alongside UX work and ongoing development as a whole. Working this way, we opt for more frequent, but shorter, questionnaires, qualitative work with fewer participants, and action-oriented presentation of findings.
A culture of research
It’s essential to always have the right people in the room. UX designers and business stakeholders need to be involved with qualitative work—perhaps asking a follow-up question or two—and technical analysts must participate in business stakeholder workshops. This helps builds a culture where everyone has an ear to the ground, thinking about user needs, business requirements, shifting market conditions and new technologies.
We have the utmost respect for clients who make user and stakeholder insights consistently part of their business, ideally with full-time researchers on their teams. And we love it when we can work alongside these professionals.
